Vance Encyclopedia, A, from the Jack Vance book Light from a Lone Star

Vance Encyclopedia, A, from the Jack Vance book Light from a Lone Star

This is 19 pages long and is a collection of excerpts from twelve of Vance's novels.  Most of them were taken from chapter introductions and footnotes.  It is not intended to be comprehensive but is merely a sampling to provide the reader with some idea of complex worlds and fascinating beings Jack Vance created.  Among the samples are excerpts about the Darsh people, the sport of hussade, the emotion of erdenfreude, the Interworld Police Coordination Company, the Rigel Concourse star and its discovery, the cuisine of the Sakoy people, the demon prince Viole Falushe and the concept of yallow.  Reading these excerpts made me flash back to the stories from which they came, all of which I have read at least several times.  It put a smile on my face.

Included in the Jack Vance collection titled Light from a Lone Star (1985)
